Kate’s 10th Birthday Pool Party!

Once again….we postponed Kate’s Birthday Party….so that we could celebrate at the pool during the Summer! She had 15 of her favorite school and dance friends meet us at The Petroleum Club. She wanted a “Sea Creatures” Party. She planned EVERY bit of it herself. She knew exactly what she wanted and followed through on every detail.

She spent hours searching the internet for ideas. She found these cute invitations on Etsy. I have always made her invitations myself….but….when we saw these we had to order them. We found them from The Etsy Shop…..BessiePooh! She added in all of Kate’s details and sent us the PDF file to print them ourselves! They were adorable!

We got to the pool early to set up. I used a 50% off coupon at Jo-Ann’s and bought the pretty blue….gauzy fabric with round sparkles…that looked like bubbles to use as the tablecloth. Then we sewed different shades of blue and green streamers onto twill tape….to hang up as the backdrop!

We filled up our large glass bowl with Goldfish Crackers and Kate wanted to have LIVE goldfish as well! We found the small bowls and pretty sea-glass looking stones at The Dollar Tree.  We sprinkled the table with foam sea creatures that we found at Michaels.

We have been having fun with our new glass canning jars. We found this idea to make cupcakes baked in a jar and decided to try it with shades of blues and greens.

We frosted them with pale blue frosting and pretty pearly green candies.

We found Sea Creature Sushi Wrappers (which we taped onto toothpicks) and spoons from our favorite Japanese dollar store, Marukai.

We all sang Happy Birthday to Kate!

The cupcakes in a jar were a HUGE hit!

We found pretty straw totes in the dollar bin at Target and decided to use those as the Goodie Bags.

I made my flower pins out of  “Sea Themed” fabric for each one. Then I made name tags using graphics that I purchased awhile back from this Etsy shop.

We filled them with a craft kit and Sea Creature Bookmark from Michaels, a bundle of bangle bracelets in shades of blues and greens from Little India, sparkly blue or green nail polish, a bag of Sea Creature Fruit Snacks (which Kate wrapped herself in Cello bags and tied with tulle and stuck a cute wooden Japanese Tooth pick on from Marukai), a pouch of Hawaiian Punch powder and a fun waterproof watch from The 99 cent Store (thanks, Lynne).

The girls had fun swimming and jumping off the diving board.

Then Kate opened her presents! She received the most darling gifts from her friends. Pretty jewelry, craft supplies, cute clothes and tons of gift cards….which is always fun…..she loves to go shopping.

We had such a fun time….at the party and all of the time planning it! Kate is bound to be a famous Party Planner someday!
